ma·qui·la·do·ra
(mä-klä-drä) n. In the Mexico manufacturing industry,
maquiladoras are typically a foreign-owned low cost labor
product assembly plant in Mexico near the United States and
Mexico border. Materials and parts are assembled into a finished
product and the finished product is then shipped back across
the border. A win-win for both the United States manufacturer
and Mexico's employment rate.
